In this small guide we'll help you get your device up and running, ready to create to your first campaign. If you have purchased a SIM card, this guide will also contain instructions on the correct settings required to make use of the SIM.

Step 1 - Connect to your Wi-Fi or enable your SIM

Wi-Fi:

  • Start by opening your device settings, the icon for settings is a cogwheel located at the bottom left of your device.
  • Tap Network and Internet.
  • Tap Internet.
  • Select your Wi-Fi network and enter your password to successfully connect.
  • Wait a few moments and you should see 'Connected' appear underneath the name of your network.

SIM:

  • Start by opening your device settings, the icon for settings is a cogwheel located at the bottom left of your device.
  • Tap Network and Internet.
  • Tap SIMs.
  • Enable the Roaming option.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and tap on the Access Point Names (APN) option.
  • Tap the plus sign at the top right of the screen to add an APN.
  • Ensure that you type "pkp18-inet" into both the 'Name' and 'APN' options.
  • Tap the 3 vertical dots at the top right of the screen and select save. (This is important as if you don't hit save you will have to repeat the above steps.)

Now you should be able to test whether your connection is successful by opening Google Chrome and searching for a random webpage to ensure that it loads correctly.

Step 2 - Connect your SumUp card reader to Give a Little

First, ensure that you have turned your SumUp on by holding the power button located on the right of the SumUp.

Once the SumUp is on, open the Give a Little app, we always update Give a Little to the latest version before shipping your device however sometimes you may get an update in the event that it was released after shipping. Simply tap update and give the required permissions for the app to update.

After you have loaded the Give a Little app and signed in, swipe from the left edge of the screen to open the menu and select 'Connect Reader'

The device will then scan for your card reader, if there are multiple readers nearby, you can identify yours by looking for the last 3 digits of the SumUp's serial number and comparing them with the ones shown on screen.

Once you have connected your SumUp, your device is ready to take donations, all you have to do is setup a campaign.

Step 3 - Setting up Fully Kiosk

We now ship our devices with a free licensed version of Fully Kiosk. Fully Kiosk is an app that prevents misuse and tampering of your device whilst unattended as it locks the screen to your campaign page and doesn't allow the user to leave the app or access any key features on your device. We strongly recommend making use of this and following this part of the guide carefully.

  • Open the Fully Kiosk app and tap on the blue 'SELECT APP' button.
  • Scroll until you find the Give a Little app, if it doesn't appear on the list you can search for it at the top of the screen.
  • Enter 'Kiosk Exit Pin' in the appropriate box. PLEASE MAKE NOTE OF YOUR FULLY KIOSK EXIT PIN AS WE HAVE NO WAY TO RECOVER THIS FOR YOU AND CANNOT DISABLE KIOSK MODE WITHOUT IT.
  • Tap 'Start Kiosk Mode'
  • You will be required to provide Fully Kiosk with some device permissions, tap 'Allow' on the initial message that appears
  • A menu with the header 'Display over other apps' will appear, you will need to select Fully Kiosk and tap 'Allow display over other apps'
  • Tap the back arrow at the top left until you are brought to the 'Usage Access' page and repeat the previous step of selecting the Fully Kiosk app and tapping Allow
  • Tap the back arrow at the top left until you return to the Fully Kiosk app and see a dialogue box appear. We strongly recommend reading over this.
  • You will have the options to enable a test mode that will automatically disable after a certain time to ensure that everything is working correctly
  • Tap yes and this will then ask which app you would like to use 'as home' by default this is Quickstep, select Fully Kiosk at the bottom
  • Tap retry when prompted
  • Tap always
  • Fully Kiosk should now be enabled. If you would like to disable Fully Kiosk, tap 7 times fast and consecutively then enter the exit pin you set previously and tap stop kiosk mode.
